Analytics, Insights and Reporting: Foundation, Process and Steps

Remove Buzzword, Embrace Data, Tell a story

Following on from my last blog, and due to popular demand, we have put together the BI steps we undergo for a project, from start to finish. Each vertical in the process flow helps our clients address one or many of the below points:

• Accelerate better and smarter decision making

• optimizing internal business processes

• decrease manual processes and increase operational efficiency

• gaining competitive advantage to others

• driving campaigns to increase revenue

The following high level steps define our BI project:

1.     Ingest – we bring all disparate data in an organisation to a single place of storage. This is the start of an organisation’s data journey.

2.     Prep and Train – This step defines and implements the business entities, cleans, classifies and aggregates the data. Patterns and clusters are built. Foundation blocks for data mining are set.

3.     Model and Serve – Data Marts are created at this step depending on the department it serves and value addition. Bespoke KPI’s, adding to each client’s needs are built at this stage. Olap cubes are implemented for business users to self-serve, if required.

4.     Analyse, Visualise and Report – The output from this step is used by department heads, executive boards and admins to harness the power of their data. Bespoke, statistical modelling for predictive analytics are built on certain KPI’s.

All the above help clients to make better and smatter decision, drive targeted marketing campaigns, thereby increasing revenue.
